A: The terms around kenneling are pretty simple. We offer a 7-day window of pickup time for a customer to come pickup or have their puppy shipped-- from availability date. Initial availability dates are listed on each individual listing. Those are found in bottom right hand corner of the pup's listing photo above the details button--we've made them prominent on our website so they aren't missed. Once in a while a puppy's availability date needs to be extended if the puppy isn't meeting a takehome miliestone (i.e. Weight minimums, appetite issues, loose stool, etc) If the availability date is extended due to something on our end the 7-day window is extended at no charge to the customer. If the 7-day window is extending for a reason on the customer's end, then the $50/day kenneling fee is incurred. Our hope is everyone's timing matches up perfectly for when our pup's are available but in the times where it doesn't the kenneling fee helps pay for their additional caretaking, vaccines, medicines, baths, etc. Most boarding places are at this price bracket, or higher. If a puppy says "available now" then the 7-day window starts when a monetary hold is placed.
A: There are puppy weight prediction charts you can google. The charts can be breed specific. These are loosely accurate at best. We also can provide you a guesstimate off current weight, parents weight, and weight prediction websites.... but keep in mind there's plenty of factors at play when it comes to predicting an 8 to 12 week old puppy's adult weight. It's similar to looking at a human baby and predicting adult weight... you can look at current weight, parent weights, but it may not be wholly accurate due to factors which can change over longer periods of time.
A: There are plenty of ways to spot a scam in our current online marketplace. Our customer review section on our website, google reviews & our Instagram page is a nice place to start. Since google profiles & Instagram accounts are tagged in the reviews / posts, feel free to contact past customers to verify their experience. You could also take a look at our "Family" page to see who you are speaking to by phone. Additionally, we are licensed within South Carolina. But lastly, and most importantly, we only use trusted bank-protected payment methods like major credit cards, Paypal, etc. We would NEVER accept a non-trusted cash app or western union, walmart money gram-- since that's what scammers use. We also have videos of pups which match the puppy in the photos & the outdoor puppy photos have our house in the background which can be verified on google maps -street view. See we make it easy :) Additionally, we have a completely secure website where your information is never shared. We use the same securities as BEST BUY, HOME DEPOT and other major companies in the U.S. And we offer live video chats with pups photographed outdoors on our website so you can verify the pup via FaceTime.
A: Generally speaking, we only sell mini and toy breeds so the date your pup can go home will depend on his/her size, weight, and appetite. More specifically we like to keep certain breeds here longer which are known to transition slower (like Maltese & Maltipoos) which we'll keep until 3 lbs or 3 months whichever comes first. Other breeds we sell which are bigger can go home sooner --in regards to weight or age. It all depends on the individual puppy and its tailored needs. Our customers mean the world to us and so do our puppies-- we do everything in our power to make sure the transition is as smooth as possible! *thanks ahead of time for understanding*
A: When you purchase a Microchip ($39.95) with us it includes the chip, the insertion of the chip. The LostMyPet enrollment for $19.95 is a separate fee which automatically enrolls the cardholder information onto the chip. This is done in effort to thwart scammers and we found 25% of customers were not registering their chips on their own for one reason or another. Auto-registering our customers accomplishes the main objective of identifying the puppy & keeping our pups out of shelters. The microchip using RFID technology and is 1/2 the size of a grain of rice. It's not an iPhone app which can track your puppy :) The QR Tag($29.95) is a third, optional and separate service which provides unique QR tag which can be placed onto your dogs collar. This is a quick n easy option if you are at a park and lose your dog, your dog's finder can scan the QR tag with your info rather than call and wait on a dog catcher's microchip reader.
A: Plenty of ways to ensure, but here are a few: 1. All breeders represented on our site are USDA certified & inspected--keeping the riff-raff out of breeding. 2. Breeders must have current Vet checks and current vaccinations. 3. Parents of pups must also be current on vaccinations, Vet checks and free of any congenital defects before they are bred. 4. Breeder's designated puppy-raising areas must be kept clean and available for inspection at any time. 5. All puppies must be dewormed every two weeks from birth according to AAHA & CAPC guidelines 6. All puppies must be home-raised with tender loving care & done with a abundant love of the breed. 7. All breeders must have 5+ years of experience with many of our breeders at over 20+ years experience. 8. Our pups are given premium kibble, delicious protein-packed supplemental meals & fresh spring water every day to ensure puppy growth targets.
A: We sell companionship breeds only. All breeds we sell are going to be good for children. We have never represented any breed known for aggression. We also carefully select puppies according to parent's health & temperament. All puppies play well with children and are well socialized to be around all ages.
A: Youtube is a great resource. We also give our customers a training 101 in our puppy prep email & in person on pickup day. Another useful item is the P4 or = PUP PEE POO PALACE. For more information, please visit www.puppeepoopalace.com. Many of our past customers have also had success with pad training, bell-on-door training, and outdoor training or any mix of the aforementioned. If you are a first time pet owner, or haven't trained a puppy in a while we will make sure you are fully confident by the time you leave our home. To date, we have been able to mitigate any training issue with any customer using all our methods.
A: There are many of different variables used to price puppies which are but not limited to: gender, size, color, features, etc. Pricing has nothing to do with the health of the puppy since all of our listed puppies have been vet checked. Each puppy has a certified health check from a veterinarian and in the case the puppy has a B+ or A- Vet check then we list the finding on the pup's ad. Each of our available puppies online are all considered fit for sale by a Vet prior to listing.
A: Absolutely! We provide one video/photo update the Wednesday (late evening) or Thursday morning prior to your pickup or delivery. Since all our pups are Vet Checked on Tuesdays before they go home, we then pick up the pups on Wednesday mornings & drive them to Newberry. We usually get back home around 8-9pm Wednesday night. So that late night, or next morning is when the party starts for the week! We remember the days when we wait to list puppies online after 8 weeks (when it's legal to rehome a puppy) and Covid sorta spiked the demand on mini / toy hypoallergenic breeds. To keep up with demand we've sped up the initial advertisement to 5-6 weeks but kept our similar pricing to years past. But the earlier photoset has created more contact/touch points and more time to wait from customer's perspective (which we can understand). Our veterinarian wants the most sterile environment possible for our 10 year genetically guaranteed pups. In reality, just the breeder & breeder's family should be the only contact points, but there are Veterinarians to verify health, photographers skilled with photos & videographers who edit the quality videos you see on our website. In effort to make our Veterinarian happy, we've decided as a club to do ONE photoset and ONE video at 5-6 weeks listing & ONE additional photoset and/or video the week of pickup delivery (upon request). This ensures our contact points stay as low as possible and your puppy stays as HEALTHY as physically possible. Thanks in advance for your understanding & we fully understand where you are coming from. We don't allow our breeders to "snap a quick pic on their phone" because we want to keep our quality up to the standard we've been known to provide. Once the puppy is in our care we'd be happy to send you whatever you need within reason. Thank you and we look forward to you becoming a part of our furry family!
A: Dog breeds tend to have signature traits: Border collies love to herd, greyhounds love to chase, and German shepherds make good guard dogs. There are also physical traits inherited which let you know you have the right breed in hand. For instance, there aren't too many French Bulldogs or English bulldogs with long noses. There aren't too many of those two breeds with overbites as well :) You get the idea. A breed specific trait is something you know is there, just by being with the dog for minutes, or seeing it with your own eyes.
Traits like these are highly heritable and should never be considered a negative thing caused by us. When you are buying a mini/toy breed there are some characteristics which are more common (i.e. they have higher instances of teeth misalignment, hernias, and some luxating patellars). Another breed specific characteristic would be a Shih Tzu or ShihTzu mix having an underbite. Shihtzu's are notorious for having cute underbites and because of this it is considered a breed characteristic rather than a defect. The breed standard for Shih Tzus acknowledges the possibility of a slight underbite, and it is not usually considered a cause for concern in terms of the dog's health or well-being.
A: We only rehome our puppies with the intention of them being a family PET, not to be bred. In the <0.1% chance you are a qualified and experienced breeder with breeder intentions, it's understood you will make those intentions known to us before placing a hold or picking up the puppy. We qualify breeders first and don't take any breeders into our program who are just starting. If you have had 3 or more litters, and want to be a part of our program, we also need to do an extra Vet check and charge a breeding rights fee (Normal fees are $250-$1000 depending on breed & gender). Formal Spay/Neuter contracts are a somewhat dated approach to limiting bloodlines because now the same thing can be done with a registration PIN on AKC paperwork. A breeding rights discussion before your purchase is required to avoid the surprise the pup's registration can limit the furthering of bloodlines. We also do not guarantee any pup will be good for breeding now or in the future --even with a healthy Vet check. Things change, dogs change, Vet opinion changes. No one can look at a puppy and know if the dog will be a good adult dog to breed. Because of the aforementioned, we do not do any sort of discount pricing for breeders & must charge a breeding rights fee on top of the listed pet price. 99% of families are purchasing a pup for a family pet, and the host of our customers fall into this category.
A: Royal Canin starter for Mother & baby is the puppy kibble food all of our pups are on. You can find the brand of Royal Canin at virtually every pet supply store but some pet supply chains carry the right blend, wrong kibble size. Because we only sell Mini/Toy breeds, the kibble size we use is about the size of a TicTac. If you don't want to worry about an specific store's inventory for your pup's tiny kibble we suggest Chewy, or Amazon so it comes to your doorstep. Plus there's no lugging bags of food from store to car to house :) Our "Puppy Prep Email"--which is automatically sent to your email when you adopt a puppy-- will have the link to the specific type & kibble size for easy future ordering.
A: All the outdoor photographed puppies from the website are at the house in Newberry, SC (1 mile off HWY 26). And health is our #1 priority, so we are not set up like a pet store with glass cages. We ask all our beautiful customers to sanitize upon arrival. We’d be glad to take your call and set an appointment for your family to come to our house and see up to three pups per visit. These steps (among others) are the necessary precautions we take to thwart cross contamination to the puppies here. If you have recently been to a pet store or another breeder's home we would appreciate you sharing that with us so we can mitigate a potential carrier situation. We appreciate your understanding in advance and look forward to finding you the forever puppy you are looking for. The indoor photographed puppies just means the pup is still too young to be seen and getting more time with breeder & momma. Currently, approximately 82% of our pups are reserved before the 8 week / outdoor photograph mark.
A: Yes we actually have designed what we call the "Puppy Prep email" which is full of tips n' tricks we've found useful for a puppy transition period. This Email is VERY DETAILED. Once you become our customer, you will receive this email automatically. Feel free to use some or all of the tips. Our past customers have cited the email as the most-mentioned reason customers return to buy from us again. We don't make any money off the products suggested in the email, but our transition tips have been tested with past families to make sure we are curating only what works.
A: This fee covers the vet check, shot and shot records.
